We don’t have a crystal ball here at Luxury Vibrators. We aren’t psychic, and we can’t see into the future. But we can use our knowledge of the adult industry – and the hands-on knowledge of our regular blog contributor, Scandarella – to bring you our predictions of what could be some of the best sex toys of 2018. With all eyes on virtual reality, long distance sharing, and the quickly approaching advent of the take-home sex robot, it’s going to be a busy year.
Have you ever heard that word before? Teledildonics is a blanket term used to cover all aspects of ‘smart’ sex toys. App controlled vibrators that facilitate intimate connections that span continents. Sex toys that sync with virtual reality to give the user an immersive experience. Artificially intelligent vibes that learn from the way you play so they can deliver exactly what you need, when you need it. These are all various forms of teledildonics and, even though applying interactivity to sex toys is still in its infancy, they’re set to be some of the best sex toys of 2018.
Companies like Kiiroo have been in the teledildonics game for a while, with their Pearl and Onyx vibrator and masturbator combo. This remarkable duo is embedded with sensors that connect over miles so that, if someone penetrates themselves with the Pearl, info will be relayed to the Onyx which will then deliver the same strokes to any penis inserted into it. Pretty mind blowing, don’t you think?
In another collaboration with Fleshlight, Kiiroo are the technology behind the Fleshlight Launch; a thrusting sex machine that works with any full-sized Fleshlight. Just like the aforementioned pair, the Launch is VR compatible, so you can choose your porn and ‘feel’ the performer performing for you.
I’m sure you all know by now that brands like We-Vibe, Lovense and SenseMax are industry leaders when it comes to app-controlled toys. We-Vibe have introduced at least one app-compatible toy in almost every category at this point. The small but mighty Ditto for anal players, the Verge and Pivot for the penis. For the clitoris there’s the Wish and Gala. The g-spot has the Rave, and if you want both internal and external stimulation they have that covered, too, with the Nova and Sync dual stimulators.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you won’t have missed the buzz surrounding air pulse clitoral stimulators. Leading the way is Womanizer. They’ve come a long way since the launch of their flagship model, the W100, with increased ranges of intensity and adding waterproofing to some models. Their mini Starlet is a little powerhouse that’s perfect for travellers and the latest addition to their range – the InsideOut – brings internal vibrations into the game.
Satisfyer is another brand that’s charging forth with their air pulse toys. They’ve made dramatic changes to their toys, making partner models as well as a rabbit.
Something else that could take 2018’s sex toy market by storm is one of their newest creations. Soon, they’ll be unleashing an air pulse stroker on the world and that has the potential to completely change the face of penis masturbation.
Their Number 3 mains-powered wand is a scaled down version of the super popular Doxy Diecast. They’ve literally taken all the features of the full-sized wands – incredible, deep, rumbly vibes, easy to use controls, gorgeous design – and squashed it into a compact model without sacrificing a single thing.
In fact, the Number 3 has a bit more to offer. As well as being lighter and smaller – thus easier to hold while playing alone or with a friend – the Number 3 has a removable silicone head. The future holds so much potential for interchangeable options that could change it from an external massager to an internal one. Make it anal safe, or maybe even turn it into a penis stroker. I, for one, am definitely watching this space!
Of course, even with its miniaturized head, the Number 3 will still offer too broad a stimulation for some.
Enter the Zumio. If anyone asked me what product I’d consider to be the most pinpoint I’ve ever come across, the Zumio would be it. With an ABS plastic ball style tip that measures just 5mm across, this toy delivers its stimulation with deadly accuracy.
In my time using and reviewing sex toys I’ve taught myself to enjoy many different types of stimulation, but I will always be a pinpoint girl at heart. However, for me, the Zumio is too direct at times. The reason for this isn’t the design of the toy but rather the sensations it delivers.
You see, Zumio doesn’t vibrate, it oscillates.
And, although it’s exceptionally fast, the scope of its movement is very small. Because of the type of stimulation it gives, there is none of the sensation migration you’d get from a vibrator. You only feel it where you put it. This takes some getting used to and I admit that I’m still not quite there yet. But that won’t stop the Zumio from being huge in 2018.
If you’ve ever paid my blog a visit, you’ll probably have come across me freely admitting that Fun Factory is one of my top five brands of all time. They make gorgeous dildos that lend themselves to pegging as well as double penetration and solo play. Their vibrators are all beautifully designed and powerful, and Stronic – their line of thrusting pulsators – is awesome. And, to my utter delight – and probably the delight of every other sex toy lover out there – they’ve recently added a new model to that line.
The Fun Factory Stronic G will be one of the best sex toys of 2018. Slimmer than their other offerings, the Stronic G has been designed with the g-spot in mind. The perfectly shaped tip – reminiscent of the LELO Ella & GiGi 2 – is made to rest against that hottest of spots so that, when the toy is switched on and moving, it rubs or taps against it to take the user to seventh heaven. Because it thrusts, you don’t have to do anything, provided you can hold it inside you, of course. Those who need very intense g-spot stimulation might find it lacking, but for those who don’t mind taking it a bit easier the Stronic G will be a must.
